PDS Tornado Warning Issued for Dover, Delaware, as Dangerous Tornado Approaches

A Particularly Dangerous Situation tornado warning is in effect for Dover and surrounding communities in Kent County, Delaware, until 6:45 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 20.

Radar showed an intense tornadic circulation approaching the Dover area shortly after 6:10 p.m. Communities in the warning area include Dover, Camden and Rodney Village.

Life-threatening situation

A PDS designation indicates an unusually dangerous and potentially destructive tornado threat.

Flying debris may be deadly to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes could be destroyed, while considerable damage to houses, businesses, vehicles and trees is possible.

Take shelter immediately

Residents should move immediately to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

Stay away from windows and protect your head and body from flying debris. Anyone in a mobile home or vehicle should seek substantial shelter immediately.
