Tornado-Producing Storm Moves Toward Dover, Delaware; Warning Until 6:45 PM EDT

DOVER, Del. — A tornado warning is in effect for central Kent County, Delaware, until 6:45 p.m. EDT Thursday as a storm with a history of producing a tornado moves toward Dover.

At 6:02 p.m., the storm was near Hartly, approximately eight miles west of Dover, and moving east at 35 mph.

Tornado and wind damage reported earlier

Forecasters said the storm previously produced a tornado and wind damage in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland.

Rotation remained radar-indicated as the storm entered central Delaware.

Communities in the warning

The warning includes Dover, Camden, Cheswold, Hartly, Wyoming, Little Creek, Leipsic, Dover Base Housing, Dover Speedway, Rodney Village, Kent Acres, Highland Acres, Hazlettville and Rising Sun-Lebanon.

Residents should immediately enter a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and remain away from windows.

Flying debris could be dangerous, while mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles and trees may sustain damage.
