Six Scottish cases confirmed in UK salmonella outbreak: Latest Details

Imported eggs are being investigated as a possible source of a salmonella outbreak which has left 207 people ill across the UK. One person has died and more than a third of those affected have needed hospital treatment, with two people developing serious blood poisoning.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said there are six cases in Scotland, alongside 199 in England, one in Wales and one in Northern Ireland. Most of the cases have been reported in recent weeks and involve the same strain of salmonella.

Investigations by the UKHSA, Food Standards Agency (FSA) and other public health bodies are ongoing, with eggs currently the strongest suspected link.
