A Chinese national has been arrested on voter fraud charges after allegedly attempting to illegally register to vote in Massachusetts by impersonating another Chinese national, even successfully submitting a fraudulent voter registration and ballot in the 2024 presidential election, the feds say. U.S.

Attorney Leah Foley’s office says Yupseng Sun, 33, of China and living in Andover, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with one count of fraudulent voter registration and one count of fraudulent voting.

Prosecutors say Sun allegedly submitted an online voter registration form through the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s Office in October 2024, impersonating another Chinese national who also lives in the state and who is a legal permanent resident.

Sun allegedly continued to impersonate the victim and submitted an early voting ballot at Malden City Hall for the 2024 presidential election, Foley’s office alleges.
