Dallas Fire: More Than 100 Firefighters Battle Massive 4-Alarm Blaze in Texas

DALLAS, Texas — More than 100 firefighters responded to a massive four-alarm fire in Dallas, after a grass fire rapidly spread to a house, vehicles, trailers and large piles of tires, sending thick black smoke across the city.

Dallas Fire-Rescue received the initial 911 call at approximately 4:44 p.m. Sunday from the 4500 block of Barstow Boulevard.

Fire Rapidly Escalates

What initially appeared to be a relatively small vegetation fire quickly grew and threatened nearby properties.

Flames reached a house, causing its roof to collapse, before spreading into an area containing gutted vehicles, trailers and multiple piles of tires.

The burning tires generated a huge plume of black smoke that could be seen for miles across the Dallas area.

More Than 100 Firefighters Respond

The emergency eventually escalated to four alarms, bringing more than 100 firefighters to the scene.

Crews positioned themselves around the fire to prevent it from spreading toward nearby businesses and a residential community.

No Injuries Reported

Authorities said no injuries or evacuations were reported.

Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for an extended period because the burning tire piles were difficult to completely extinguish.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
