Russia Says 822 Ukrainian Drones Downed in Massive Attack as 6 Killed Near Moscow and Rostov

MOSCOW, Russia — At least six people were killed as hundreds of Ukrainian drones struck or targeted regions across Russia overnight Sunday, with Russia’s Defense Ministry saying its forces destroyed 822 drones in one of the largest aerial attacks of the war.

Hundreds of Drones Target Moscow

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said around 600 drones were headed toward the Russian capital, while air defenses intercepted large numbers across the Moscow region and other parts of the country.

An 83-year-old man was killed in the Moscow region after a drone struck a private home, according to regional authorities.

Massive Fire at Wildberries Warehouse

A drone attack also sparked a major fire at a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk, south of Moscow. Images from the area showed a large column of black smoke rising from the facility.

Another warehouse near Domodedovo, close to one of Moscow’s major airports, was also reported damaged.

Five Killed in Rostov Region

Five additional people were killed in Russia’s southwestern Rostov region, where several towns came under attack.

Russian authorities said homes and other infrastructure were damaged as the unprecedented overnight drone assault stretched across multiple regions.
