Heathrow Airport Flooding Blocks Road Access to Terminals 2 and 3
Heathrow Airport is warning passengers not to travel by road to Terminals 2 and 3 after flooding forced major access routes in the central terminal area to close.
The disruption is affecting passengers traveling through one of the world’s busiest airports during the peak summer holiday period.
Heathrow said ongoing flooding in the central terminal area has blocked road access to both terminals, and passengers traveling to or from Terminals 2 and 3 should avoid arriving by car.
Heathrow Urges Passengers to Use Trains
Travelers are being strongly advised to use the Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line or Piccadilly Line wherever possible.
Passengers who must travel by car should instead use park-and-ride facilities or travel to Terminals 4 or 5, before transferring to free rail services connecting the terminals.
Heathrow has also advised passengers to allow additional travel time because of the disruption.
The flooding comes during the school summer holidays, when hundreds of thousands of passengers are expected to pass through Heathrow during peak travel periods.
Airport teams are working to clear the flooding and reopen the affected roads as quickly as possible.
Passengers with flights departing from Terminals 2 or 3 should continue checking their airline and Heathrow travel information before heading to the airport.
