Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island Beach Weather: Rip Current Risk This Weekend Before Rain Returns
Beautiful beach weather is expected across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island this weekend, but swimmers and beachgoers are being urged to use caution as a moderate rip current risk remains in place today and Sunday.
Saturday will be the best beach day of the weekend, with mainly sunny, dry and seasonable conditions. High temperatures are expected to range from 77 to 82 degrees.
Sunday will begin sunny before clouds increase later in the day. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s, with rain expected to arrive Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service warns that swimmers should remain alert for dangerous rip currents, particularly at ocean-facing beaches. Anyone caught in a rip current should avoid swimming directly against it and move parallel to the shoreline until able to escape the current.
Rain will become more widespread Sunday night into Monday, with mostly cloudy skies and periods of showers continuing through Monday afternoon.
Conditions are expected to improve Tuesday, with rain ending and mostly sunny skies returning. Temperatures could reach the low to mid-80s.
Beachgoers across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island should monitor local surf and weather conditions before entering the water.
