Thousands Stranded at Narita Airport

Around 7,000 travelers were stranded overnight at Narita International Airport after flooding disrupted trains and closed major highways. The airport remained operational despite transportation problems.

Record Rainfall Causes Power Outages

More than 14 inches of rain fell within 24 hours, flooding roads, vehicles and homes. Power outages affected more than 22,000 households, while hundreds of residents sought shelter in government buildings.

Soldiers Deployed for Flood Response

Japanese soldiers were deployed to assist emergency operations. Authorities warned that rivers and flooded roads could remain dangerous even after the heaviest rainfall ends.
