Tornado Warning Issued for Orland Park, Tinley Park and Oak Lawn, Illinois

A Tornado Warning is in effect for Orland Park, Tinley Park and Oak Lawn, Illinois, until 11:15 a.m. CDT Tuesday, as radar indicates possible tornado development in the Chicago area.

The warning also includes Bridgeview, Palos Heights, Blue Island, Harvey, Homewood, Chicago Heights, Frankfort, Mokena, Steger, Lansing and surrounding communities.

Approximately 1.21 million people, 445 schools and 15 hospitals are within the warning area, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents in the warned area should take shelter immediately in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
