Video: California Murder Suspect Was Released From Custody One Day Before Fatal Martinez Stabbing

Marcos Iriarte-Valdez, 36, the man accused of fatally stabbing 68-year-old Todd Stewart outside his home in Martinez, California, had reportedly been released from custody just one day before the killing.
Stewart was attacked while outside his residence on Francis Court on August 6. Investigators reportedly used surveillance footage to track a Cadillac SUV seen leaving the area, and Iriarte-Valdez was later arrested in connection with the killing.
According to court records cited in reports, Iriarte-Valdez had been released on his own recognizance on August 5 following an alleged violation of home-detention conditions connected to earlier residential burglary cases.
Police have not identified a known connection between Stewart and the suspect. The case has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s release shortly before the fatal attack.
Iriarte-Valdez is accused in the case, and the allegations against him remain subject to the court process.
