Special Marine Warning issued for Florida Atlantic waters off Volusia, Brevard, Indian River and Martin counties

FLORIDA — The National Weather Service has issued a Special Marine Warning for the Atlantic coastal waters from the Volusia-Brevard County line to Sebastian Inlet and from Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet, covering areas 0 to 20 nautical miles offshore, until 1:45 p.m. EDT.

The warning indicates hazardous conditions for boaters, including the potential for strong thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, dangerous lightning, and rough seas.

Mariners in the affected waters are urged to seek safe harbor immediately or remain in port until the warning expires. Small vessels are especially vulnerable to rapidly changing weather conditions associated with severe thunderstorms.
