Pomona: WinCo Foods evacuated after report of shots fired; no evidence found

POMONA, Calif. — A WinCo Foods grocery store in Pomona was evacuated early Wednesday morning after a report of shots fired inside the store, but authorities later found no evidence of gunfire or a suspect.

Police responded to the 24-hour store at 90 Rio Rancho Road around 3 a.m. following reports that a man dressed in black had fired shots inside the building. Officers immediately evacuated employees and customers as they secured the scene.

Authorities deployed a robotic police dog to assist in a thorough search of the store. After completing the sweep, investigators found no physical evidence of gunfire and were unable to locate any suspect.

Employees were cleared to reenter the building at approximately 6:30 a.m., and the store has since resumed normal operations. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial report.
