Europe heatwave: Spain could reach 45°C as extreme heat spreads across the continent

MADRID, Spain — Temperatures are rising again across western Europe, with Almadén, Spain, reaching 41.9°C on Tuesday as a new heatwave intensifies.

Forecasters warn that parts of the Iberian Peninsula could see temperatures between 40°C and 45°C in the coming days, while much of continental Europe is expected to experience highs in the upper 30s°C, with some areas approaching 40°C.

The intense heat currently affecting France is forecast to spread eastward across Europe, while Spain is expected to remain under the most extreme conditions.

Authorities are urging residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and remain alert as prolonged high temperatures increase the risk of wildfires across several regions.
