Simon Richardson Found Guilty of Murdering Teacher Michael Mullins in Greater Manchester, UK

Simon Richardson has been found guilty of murdering head teacher Michael Mullins, who was dragged for more than a mile beneath a car after being struck while cycling home from work.

Mullins, 56, was hit in Warburton, Greater Manchester, on the evening of April 20.

Prosecutors said Richardson, 35, drove away before stopping to try to dislodge the injured teacher, who was still alive. He then continued driving with Mullins trapped beneath the vehicle.

Richardson was also convicted of dangerous driving at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He will return for sentencing on Monday.

Mrs Justice Brunner told him that murder carries a mandatory life sentence. Shouts of “Yes!” and crying were heard from the public gallery as the verdict was returned.
