Man Arrested on Accessory Charges After Fatal Shooting in Tavares, Florida

A 24-year-old Eustis man has been arrested on two accessory charges connected to the fatal shooting of De’Angelo Donta McKnight outside an apartment complex in Tavares, Florida.

Jonathan Erickson Louis was taken into custody Wednesday morning, October 28, police announced Thursday. He is accused of being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm.

McKnight, 26, was found wounded outside the Caroline Court apartments early Sunday, October 25. Officers provided lifesaving assistance before he was taken to AdventHealth Waterman, where he died.

Police initially reported that two masked people approached McKnight, shot him and fled in a vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
