Pegasus Denies Takeoff Attempt After Wrong Turn at Frankfurt Airport, Germany; Incident Under Review

Pegasus Airlines says no takeoff attempt was made when one of its aircraft turned in the wrong direction while entering a runway at Frankfurt Airport on October 20.

The Airbus A321, registration TC-RDO, was operating flight PC996 to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

According to the airline, the crew recognized the error and stopped the aircraft. In coordination with air traffic control, it then exited the runway, re-entered correctly and departed safely.

Pegasus disputed reports that the aircraft attempted to take off in the wrong direction and that controllers intervened to prevent its departure.

The airline also said the incident had been reported under standard safety procedures and was under review.
