Boy, 5, Critically Injured After SUV Strikes Him in Garland, Texas

A five-year-old boy remained in critical condition Sunday night after being struck by an SUV in Garland, Texas, according to police.

Officers responded around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18, near Broadway Boulevard and Tacoma Drive. They found the boy unconscious, and he was taken to a local hospital.

Driver Remains at Scene

Investigators believe the boy ran into the roadway and was struck by an SUV traveling south on Broadway Boulevard.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said no charges were expected based on the information gathered so far.

Southbound lanes of Broadway Boulevard were closed for much of the afternoon and into the evening during the investigation.

Police have not released the boy’s identity. The investigation remains ongoing.
