Shreveport Regional Airport plans new air traffic control tower, additional gates

Shreveport Regional Airport

Shreveport Regional Airport is building a new air traffic control tower elsewhere at the airport and tearing down the current tower.

Official response and confirmed impact

Marketing and Public Relations Manager Mark Crawford said the move opens the door for expansion.

“By moving the tower, we’ll be able to connect both concourses with a connecting corridor, a connecting concourse between what’s now the American Gate and the Delta Gate.

And that will open up the opportunity to have four additional gates for more airline service and better customer experience here at the airport,” Crawford said.

More gates could mean more passengers, and Crawford said that raises the question of where everyone will park.

He said the airport is already one step ahead.

“We’re about to start a brand new project that should add more than 400 parking spots, a construction project this fall that should be ready by next spring, which is our busy, you know, starts our busy season.

And so this holiday season we still have plenty of parking available, so don’t worry about that when you choose to fly from Shreveport,” Crawford said.
