Two arrested after shooting at Jacksonville recreational football practice

JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Jacksonville Commons Elementary School athletic fields, according to the Jacksonville Police Department.

Police said Za'Vone Jahaid Farrior, 27, of Jacksonville, was taken into custody Sept. 30 with assistance from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office.

Farrior is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor.

The charges stem from a Sept. 28 shooting during a recreational football practice at the athletic fields behind Jacksonville Commons Elementary School.
