Woman charged in Lexington car incident to ask court to restore driving privileges

The woman who police say hit multiple people with her car in downtown Lexington in March will be in court on Thursday morning to ask the court to give her back the ability to drive.

Arrest and charges

Twenty-year-old Kaydence Carpenter’s attorneys filed a motion Tuesday to have her pretrial license suspension vacated.

Carpenter said that she also wants the bond condition that prevents her from driving to be amended, stating that she has medical issues, lives alone and requires transportation to necessary healthcare appointments.

Police said that earlier this year, Carpenter drove out of a crowd of people and went the wrong way down Short Street while she was under the influence.

Charges and court proceedings

According to court documents, Carpenter has served the maximum six-month-suspension for operating a vehicle under the influence.

Carpenter faces four counts of assault, wanton endangerment, reckless driving and other charges.
