Arrest and charges
On March 6, Brooks was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence near Thunderbird and Scottsdale roads.
A Scottsdale police officer saw Brooks’ Rolls-Royce continuously weaving in and out of lanes at least five times, according to a police report.
The officer pulled Brooks over in a nearby parking lot and “observed the odor of fresh and burnt cannabis coming from inside the vehicle,” the report stated.
In body-camera video released by Scottsdale police, Brooks denied smoking marijuana when asked by the officer.
The basketball star also told police that the last time he drank was six months prior.
“To be honest with you, it smells like a dispensary in your car,” the officer said in the body-cam video.
Charges and court proceedings
Court records show that a complaint was filed in Scottsdale City Court charging Suns forward Dillon Brooks with a misdemeanor DUI stemming from his March arrest.
