Baby dead after being found in dumpster in South LA, triggering homicide investigation

– A baby believed to be around 6 months old died after being found in a dumpster in South Los Angeles, and authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.

The discovery was made around 10:30 p.m. Monday on Alba Street near Long Beach Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Responding firefighters took the baby girl, who is estimated to be 4-6 months old, to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It's not known if the baby had any signs of injuries or trauma. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
