Soledad man arrested after allegedly running from deputies with gun in King City, California

A man was arrested after allegedly running from deputies and brandishing a firearm at a party in King City, according to a Monterey County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Arrest and charges

The sheriff’s office said King City police responded to a disturbance at a party Saturday just after 10 p.m.

The 22-year-old suspect, Luis Rodriguez of Soledad, allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened another person before leaving the area.

Police learned Rodriguez was going to another location in the 500 block of Bitterwater Road and asked the sheriff’s office for help finding him.

Rodriguez allegedly threw the firearm to the ground and continued running, the spokesperson said. The deputy used a Taser in an effort to apprehend Rodriguez.

He continued to flee but was eventually found hiding beneath a vehicle and taken into custody without further incident, according to the spokesperson.

A woman associated with Rodriguez allegedly interfered with the deputy by stepping in his path, causing the deputy to temporarily lose sight of Rodriguez.
