Limington home explosion prompts calls for safety checks before start of Maine’s heating season

An explosion that happened at a Limington home over the weekend has prompted fire officials to remind Maine homeowners of the safety measures they should take as they prepare for colder weather.

The 911 call reporting an explosion at a house on East Sand Pond Road came in shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said the homeowner suffered second-degree burns to his face, hands and chest.

The homeowner’s son, who lives across the street, told Maine's Total Coverage that he ran over with a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
