Docs: Man arrested after stealing comics chasing Pioneer Place security guard with knife
A man is behind bars on several charges after a bizarre incident last week at Pioneer Place in Portland.
Arrest and charges
According to court documents, police responded Thursday September 24 to reports of a man throwing furniture and threatening security with a knife.
Officers spoke with the security guard who says he approached the man in the mall because he had an open container of alcohol and was appeared visibly intoxicated.
An employee at Floating World Comics says Brooks then ran into the store grabbed some comics while holding the knife and said "What now?" before leaving the store.
Brooks ran out of Pioneer Place eastbound before being later arrested by police at the intersection of Southwest 3rd and Harvey Milk Street.
Surveillance footage also showed Brooks chasing the security guard with the knife wearing the same clothing as when he was arrested.
Charges and court proceedings
When he asked the man , later identified as 29-year-old Ennis Donja Brooks of Los Angeles, he says Brooks pulled out a large knife from his bag and charged at him.
According to court documents, officers found a ten inch blade on Brooks along with the stolen comic books in his backpack.
