Video: Cape Town Shooting Leaves 10 Dead, 11 Injured in Lwandle as Gunmen Remain at Large

A Cape Town shooting killed 10 people and injured 11 others in Lwandle early Sunday, September 27, 2026, according to South African police. Authorities launched a manhunt for the attackers.

Gunmen entered an entertainment venue that also serves grilled meat, known as a shisanyama, at approximately 1:46 a.m. local time and opened fire on patrons.

Five people died at the scene. Another five died from their injuries after being taken to medical facilities. Eleven others were receiving medical treatment.

Police Search for the Attackers

Western Cape police assembled a multidisciplinary team led by detectives specializing in serious violent crime to investigate the shooting and track down those responsible.

No arrests had been announced in the latest available police account, and the motive remained unknown.

Police said the victims’ identities would be released after their families had been notified.

Separate Attack Near Carletonville Killed 17

The Lwandle shooting followed another deadly attack at a tavern in Wedela, near Carletonville in Gauteng province, on Saturday evening. That shooting killed 17 people.

The attacks occurred in different provinces and involve separate casualty counts.
