Parent detained after welfare check for children at Upstate home, deputies say

Deputies in Spartanburg, South Carolina, say a parent was detained after two children were discovered with knife injuries.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the 1400 block of Bud Arthur Bridge Road for a welfare check on the children.

When deputies arrived, they discovered two children unattended and suffering from knife wounds. Both of the children were transported to the local hospital for treatment.
