Person struck, killed by NJ Transit train at Plainfield station

– A person was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train at the Plainfield station Friday morning, causing Raritan Valley Line service to be suspended in both directions.

NJ Transit says Raritan Valley Line train 5406 struck and fatally injured a trespasser at the station at approximately 5:40 a.m.

The train had departed Raritan at 5:09 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Newark Penn Station at 6:08 a.m.

There were no reported injuries to the train crew or the 40 customers on board.
