Suspect charged in 2024 Birmingham shooting death

A Birmingham man has been charged with the murder of another Birmingham man more than two years after being arrested in connection with another murder.

Birmingham police said they have charged Jimmy Hollis, 40, in connection with the shooting death of Reginald Crenshaw, 69, in December 2024 on Third Avenue South.

Hollis was already in custody in connection with a separate homicide that happened on Iota Avenue in April 2026.

Birmingham police said as their investigation into the Third Avenue South incident progressed, they identified Hollis as a suspect in Crenshaw's death.
