Attorney gives statement after former Graves County Middle School teacher indicted by second grand jury

A former Graves County Middle School teacher appeared before a grand jury Tuesday and was charged a second time under a recently enacted Kentucky grooming law.

Arrest and charges

Sadie Flores was initially arraigned Sept. 2 and pleaded not guilty.

The indictment alleges that Flores committed the offense of grooming a minor, stating "being in a position of authority or a position of special trust, the Defendant knowingly and unlawfully engaged in grooming behavior directed at a minor under 18 years old with intent to develop an intimate or secretive relationship with the minor by engaging in unauthorized and inappropriate communications with the alleged victim."

The indictment further alleges that Flores tampered with physical evidence, stating "believing an official proceeding was about to be pending, the Defendant deleted Snapchat messages between herself and the alleged victim from her cell phone which she believed would be produced or used in the official proceeding, with intent to impair its verity or availability in the official proceeding."

Charges and court proceedings

The charges against her were later dismissed by Judge Scott Robbins at a preliminary hearing Sept. 9.

According to an indictment obtained by WPSD, the grand jury re-indicted Flores on charges of grooming a minor and tampering with physical evidence.
