Magnitude 5.0 earthquake strikes north of Ba, Fiji

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck north of Fiji early Thursday morning.

Preliminary seismic data placed the epicenter about 140 kilometers north-northeast of Ba, Fiji, at around 5:46 a.m. local time on September 24, 2026.

The earthquake occurred at a relatively shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries following the earthquake.

Initial estimates of the magnitude, location and depth may be revised as additional seismic data are analyzed.
