Live stream: Community holds press conference

Community members were expected to hold a press conference Wednesday morning about a 4-year-old boy killed in Charlotte when shots were fired into several homes.

Members of the community and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office were set to hold what they called a “community” press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

“Community members, faith leaders, public officials, and members of the media are invited to attend and stand in solidarity with Caleb’s family,” a press release from the sheriff’s office read Tuesday.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, several shots were fired in a northwest Charlotte neighborhood on Grassy Patch Lane, hitting four homes and multiple vehicles.

Some of that gunfire hit 4-year-old Caleb Flax, who died at the hospital from his injuries.

An adult woman was also hit by the gunfire and taken to the hospital with serious injuries, though she was expected to survive.
