Pegasus Airlines plane PGT38X issues mid-air emergency alert over Britain as crew report mechanical failure

A plane in the skies over Britain issued an emergency alert as crews report a “mechanical failure”, before landing in a cloud of white smoke. 

Flight PGT38X was closing in on its arrival at Manchester Airport from Istanbul when it put out the alert around 20 miles from its destination. Footage later showed the Pegasus Airlines plane arriving at the airport, amid a cloud of smoke as it touched down.
