Authorities in Oakland County said three people suffered gunshot wounds and one person had been arrested in a “major incident” on Christmas Eve near Oxford High School.

At 6:32 p.m., authorities responded to a report of an incident in Oxford Township, on Ray Road, between Lapeer and North Oxford roads, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

That area is just north of Oxford High School.

Deputies responded and found three people had suffered gunshot wounds. All three were transported to area hospitals.

The sheriff’s office said a suspect was in custody and a gun had been recovered. As of 7:30 p.m., law enforcement was asking that people stay away from the area, which was still an active crime scene, while officers investigate. However, authorities said they believed there was no further danger to the public.
