Teen shot in head on Staten Island field; police searching for suspects

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police responded to an emergency call of a person shot in Stapleton Friday afternoon, resulting in what a law-enforcement source described as life-threatening injuries.
The source said the victim is a 15-year-old boy who had been shot in the head.
A police spokesperson confirmed the shooting, and said the victim was transported by ambulance to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.
The incident occurred at a field on Tompkins Avenue and Broad Street, next to a parking lot for the Stapleton Houses.
The area is close to I.S. 49 and Eagle Academy.
Witnesses observed police providing medical aid at about 4 p.m. to a person who was then rushed away by ambulance.
