Peeping Tom Suspect in GVSU Campus Vicinity Arrested
It took nearly a year, but a 34-year-old Grandville man is in custody, accused in a string of “Peeping Tom” incidents among the off-campus housing units near Grand Valley State University in Allendale.
Arrest and charges
The unnamed suspect was apprehended on Thursday in Georgetown Township after a reported overnight Monday break in at an apartment just north of the 48th Avenue-Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) junction.
Some women had been sleeping when one of them was roused by a man in her bedroom and called police.
The suspect fled before Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, and with the help of Flock security cameras, detectives were able to track the man down and arrest him.
Between late last September and early October, a dozen reports were filed in this area by women who claimed that a man either was peering into their windows, or who had actually entered their apartments.
The incidents occurred during the late night or early morning hours. None of the victims were reportedly harmed.
Charges and court proceedings
The identity of the suspect will be disclosed following the issuing of formal charges and an arraignment at 58th District Court in Hudsonville.
