Australia vs Zimbabwe: Renshaw Century Powers Australia to 59-Run ODI Win

Australia defeated Zimbabwe by 59 runs in the first ODI in Harare, with Matt Renshaw scoring his maiden one-day international century.

Australia posted 294 for eight from its 50 overs after batting first at Harare Sports Club.

Renshaw led the innings with an impressive 109, reaching his first ODI hundred and providing the foundation for Australia’s total.

Cooper Connolly also made an important contribution with 51 as Australia recovered from early wickets.

Zimbabwe fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri produced an outstanding performance despite the defeat, taking five wickets for 62 runs.

Zimbabwe then made 235 in 45.1 overs while attempting to chase Australia’s target.

Craig Ervine scored 59 and captain Sikandar Raza added 57, with the pair sharing a 98-run partnership that briefly kept Zimbabwe in contention.

Australia fast bowler Nathan Ellis finished with 5-31, dismantling Zimbabwe’s lower order and securing the victory.

The result gives Australia a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

The second ODI between Zimbabwe and Australia will be played in Harare on Friday, September 18, followed by the third match on Sunday.
