GURGAON: Gurgaon Police on Monday took suo motu cognizance of a viral video showing a car allegedly following and hitting a woman biker, and said the accused will be identified and arrested at the earliest as per law in connection with the case..

Police are registering a case against the accused car driver under relevant sections at Sector 56 police station in Gurgaon.

Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said the woman has not yet lodged a complaint, but police have tried to contact her and will register an FIR as soon as her complaint is received."We have not received a complaint from the victim, however, we have tried to contact her.

The development comes after a woman biker, who identified herself as Sia, shared a video on Instagram alleging that a car repeatedly followed her while she was riding with friends from Golf Course Road towards Bikerburns on Sunday.

According to Sia, the car driver allegedly asked her to stop and continued following her despite her asking him to maintain distance.

She also alleged that the occupants appeared to be drunk.
