A massive setback has struck K League 2 club Busan IPark, with its key foreign striker Christian caught for drunk driving.

This is expected to deal a fatal blow to the team's morale, which was already in severe slump after leading the standings early in the season.

On the 8th, Busan Club announced via official social networking service (SNS): "We have confirmed that our player Christian was caught for drunk driving on the 7th." The club added, "We sincerely apologize to all fans who have trusted and supported Busan IPark for causing disappointment and concern." The club further stated: "Upon learning of the incident on that day, we immediately convened an emergency player management committee, completely excluding the player from training and team activities, and promptly reported the matter to the Korea Professional Football League.

We are taking this issue very seriously and will proceed with strict follow-up measures in accordance with relevant regulations based on confirmed facts and investigation results." The club also added that it would re-examine its player management and education systems to prevent recurrence.

Christian has been a key asset for Busan, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists in K League 2 this season.

However, due to an irreversible off-field misconduct, he has been completely removed from the team's roster.
