Greenpeace Claims Responsibility for Explosion and Banner at Reform UK Conference

Greenpeace has taken responsibility for the explosion and protest banner that triggered a security alert at the Reform UK conference in Birmingham, delaying Nigel Farage’s speech.

The environmental group said the disruption was part of a protest against Reform UK’s climate and energy policies.

Explosion Triggers Security Response Near Stage

A loud explosion near the stage prompted counterterrorism police to intervene and temporarily prevent Farage from appearing before delegates.

Events inside the main hall were paused because of “unforeseen circumstances” while police officers inspected the stage and surrounding area.

Greenpeace Banner Unveiled During Conference

Greenpeace also claimed responsibility for a large banner unveiled behind Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice during his speech.

The banner displayed an image of Farage carrying a bag of money alongside the message: “Collect £5 million, burn the planet.”

It remained visible for several minutes before conference staff removed it.

Nigel Farage Safe as Speech Delayed

Farage was seen waiting near the side of the stage with aides and appeared unharmed during the security response.

No injuries were immediately reported. The incident caused a significant delay while officers worked to ensure the stage was safe before allowing the conference to continue.
