Gachagua breaks silence after viral US shooting range sparks concern — Spokane, Washington

SPOKANE, Washington — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has explained his appearance at a shooting range in the United States, saying the experience was part of his renewed practice with firearms.

Speaking in Spokane, Washington, on Sunday, September 6, 2026, Gachagua said he had returned to shooting practice after decades, recalling that he last received training in weaponry and basic combat skills in 1990.

“The most difficult part is to stay alive. Tusiumizwe na goons. Hiyo ndiyo kazi ile iko mbele yetu,” Gachagua said.

His remarks came days after a video of him handling a firearm and firing at targets at a shooting range in Spokane went viral on social media.
