Statewide Blue Alert for armed suspect on the run Issued by Georgia officer shot, killed

Statewide Blue Alert: WARM SPRINGS, Georgia — A Georgia police officer has been shot and killed, and authorities are warning the public that the man they say is responsible is armed and dangerous.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has issued a Blue Alert for 23-year-old Jimmie Lee Steverson following the death of Warm Springs Police Officer Chris Fisher.

The GBI says Fisher was killed in a shooting outside the Meriwether Country Inn on Spring Street in Warm Springs shortly before midnight Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 11:57 p.m., according to investigators. Now, authorities are searching for Steverson.
