Germany Investigates Augsburg Station Blast Amid Separate Grid Sabotage Attack

Two people were injured after an unknown object exploded near Augsburg Central Station in southern Germany early Wednesday.

The explosion occurred inside a building passageway, shattering windows and leaving a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man with minor injuries.

Augsburg Station Partially Closed

Police cordoned off part of the station and deployed explosives specialists to investigate the object and determine a possible motive.

Train services were disrupted, while nearby roads and public transportation routes were affected by closures.

Separate Sabotage Attack Targets Power Grid

The explosion came shortly after German authorities confirmed a separate sabotage attack targeting high-voltage power lines near a substation in Brandenburg.

Projectile devices carrying conductive material caused two short circuits and temporarily shut down a unit at a nearby power plant. Electricity supplies were later restored.

Authorities have not established any connection between the two incidents, and the Augsburg explosion has not been classified as a terrorist attack.
