Lufthansa Airbus A380 Lands Short at Munich Airport, Damaging Runway Lights

A Lufthansa Airbus A380 carrying 351 passengers landed before the runway threshold at Munich Airport, damaging runway lights during its arrival from San Francisco.
Flight LH459 landed Monday evening following an approximately 11-hour journey. The aircraft involved was an Airbus A380-800 registered D-AIML.
Passengers Disembark Normally
The aircraft continued taxiing to its assigned position at the terminal after landing. All 351 passengers disembarked normally, and no injuries were reported.
Germany’s Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation has opened an investigation and secured the aircraft’s flight recorder. Lufthansa said it is fully supporting the inquiry.
Second Incident on Same Runway
The incident occurred two days after a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 struggled to gain speed during takeoff from the same runway.
The Dreamliner passed beyond the runway before becoming airborne and damaged runway lights. It later returned to Munich Airport, where several tires burst during the landing. No injuries were reported in that incident.
