Magnitude 4.5 Earthquake Strikes Near Karluk, Alaska

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck near Karluk, Alaska, on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake was recorded approximately 25 miles southwest of Karluk at a depth of about 36 miles.

No Tsunami Threat Issued

Officials did not issue a tsunami warning following the earthquake.

Several people submitted reports indicating that they felt the shaking, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage.

The earthquake’s magnitude and location were reviewed by seismologists and could be revised if additional data becomes available.
