Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Beatrice, Nebraska as 60 MPH Winds Threaten Southeast Nebraska

BEATRICE, Nebraska — A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for parts of southeastern Nebraska until 5:15 a.m. CDT Sunday, with storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

Four Counties Under Warning

The warning covers portions of Gage, Saline, Jefferson and Lancaster counties.

At 4:23 a.m. CDT, severe thunderstorms were detected along a line stretching from south of Friend through areas near Plymouth and Odell, moving east at approximately 40 mph.

Beatrice, Wilber and Crete in Storm Path

Communities in or near the path of the storms include Beatrice, Wilber, De Witt, Odell, Wymore, Dorchester, Blue Springs, Holmesville, Crete, Clatonia, Pickrell and Hallam.

Damaging Winds and Flooding Possible

Wind gusts of up to 60 mph could damage roofs, siding and trees.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with the storms and could produce localized flash flooding. Residents in the warned area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
