Flash Flood Warning Issued for Rushville, Indiana as Heavy Rain Hits Rush County

RUSHVILLE, Indiana — A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for northern Rush County, Indiana, until 7:30 a.m. EDT Sunday, as thunderstorms bring heavy overnight rainfall and threaten roads, streams and low-lying areas.

Heavy Rain Threatens Flash Flooding

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 2:29 a.m. EDT after radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area.

Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain had already fallen, with up to another half-inch possible. Flash flooding was expected to begin shortly or may already be occurring.

Rushville and Nearby Communities at Risk

Locations included in the warning include Rushville, Carthage, Glenwood, Mays and New Salem.

Flooding could affect small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses and other low-lying or poorly drained areas. Motorists are urged not to drive through flooded roads.
