Flash Flood Warning Issued for Southern Monroe County, Ohio as Heavy Rain Intensifies

MONROE COUNTY, Ohio — A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for southern Monroe County in eastern Ohio as thunderstorms produce heavy rainfall overnight, with flash flooding expected to begin shortly.

Heavy Rain Threatens Roads and Low-Lying Areas

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 2:43 a.m. EDT Sunday, with the alert remaining in effect until 5:45 a.m. EDT.

Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has already fallen, while rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected. Another 1 to 2 inches could fall across the warned area.

Communities Included in Warning

Locations expected to be affected include Sardis, Fly, Antioch, Stafford, Graysville and Rinard Mills.

Officials warned that small creeks, streets, highways, underpasses and other low-lying areas could quickly flood.
