Tropical Storm Lala Strengthens to 65 MPH as Oahu and Kauai Upgraded to Warnings

Tropical Storm Lala has strengthened to 65 mph as forecasters upgrade Oahu and Kauai from tropical storm watches to warnings, increasing concern across Hawaii ahead of worsening conditions this weekend.

The latest Central Pacific Hurricane Center advisory keeps a Hurricane Warning in effect for Hawaii County, where hurricane conditions are still expected on the Big Island on Saturday.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Maui County, while Oahu and Kauai are now also under tropical storm warnings as Lala approaches the island chain.

The storm is forecast to continue strengthening, with the latest track showing Lala potentially reaching hurricane intensity by Saturday.

Residents and travelers across Hawaii should prepare for strong winds, heavy rain, dangerous surf, localized flooding and possible power outages as conditions deteriorate.

People in warning areas should complete storm preparations, secure outdoor objects and closely monitor official emergency updates.

Travelers are also advised to check with airlines for possible delays or cancellations as Tropical Storm Lala moves closer to Hawaii.
